Synopsis:
Tiernan de Haas doesn’t care about anything anymore. The only child of a film producer and his starlet wife, she’s grown up with wealth and privilege but not love or guidance. Shipped off to boarding schools from an early age, it was still impossible to escape the loneliness and carve out a life of her own. The shadow of her parents’ fame followed her everywhere.
And when they suddenly pass away, she knows she should be devastated. But has anything really changed? She’s always been alone, hasn’t she?
Jake Van der Berg, her father’s stepbrother and her only living relative, assumes guardianship of Tiernan who is still two months shy of eighteen. Sent to live with him and his two sons, Noah and Kaleb, in the mountains of Colorado, Tiernan soon learns that these men now have a say in what she chooses to care and not care about anymore. As the three of them take her under their wing, teach her to work and survive in the remote woods far away from the rest of the world, she slowly finds her place among them.
And as a part of them.
She also realizes that lines blur and rules become easy to break when no one else is watching.
One of them has her.
The other one wants her.
But he…
He’s going to keep her.
*SPOILERS* Review:
“Because life is only happy when it’s shared.”
This was my very first book to pick up when I started my reading journey back in 2023. Honestly, I loved every second of it. I continue to recommend this book to people, especially if you are looking for something in the “taboo” category. This book can be considered taboo due to it being a reverse harem (technically) and family relations (not by blood).
There is a good amount of spice in this book, and yes… you get to enjoy scenes with all of the men. There is only one scene with the two brothers (unfortunately) but it is so good. The plot line however, is also able to hold its own. While it is not a plot that I would say is incredible, it doesn’t need to sex to make it good… the sex just makes it better. The ending is a little bit predictable, and if it were up to me I would have had her end up with someone else. That being said though, it is still overall a 4 star read for me. I enjoyed reading this book and if I am being honest I wish we got a book about Noah.
I enjoyed the dynamic between the characters. Is it a little strange that Jake can just kind of forget the fact he was physical with Tiernan and be happy for her and his son’s? A little… but maybe that’s also because I shipped Uncle Jake.
